  EX Workflow

  We’ve sold our Varicam and are considering the Sony EX as an interim camera until we decide about RED. We occasionally shoot green screen for portraits or interviews. Can anyone confirm the following workflow?

  For green screen material, HD SDI output from the EX into a workstation or IO HD, MacBook Pro and Sata drive. That goes to the FCP timeline as ProRes 422 HQ footage.

  For all other footage, we download the SxS card to the FCP timeline as XDCam footage.

  Can these two codecs exist side by side on the FCP timeline and play back in real time or does one of them need to be rendered depending on sequence settings?

  Does the HD SDI spigot out of the EX contain embedded audio and timecode?
