EX-3 Jungle shooting
This may be a question for an Animal Planet shooter. I will be shooting in a remote location in Cameroon, Africa where I will only have access to solar to recharge batteries. I will have with me a PMW EX-3 w/a BC-U1 charger. I have 2 ea 32 gig SXS cards. I will be using a MacBook with external firewire drives to transfer footage; so I also need to recharge the MacBook. Lastly I have a Sony HVL-LBP Battery Video Light. This is the onboard Sony LED light which takes NPF960 InfoLITHIUM batteries and uses a Sony C-V700 charger.
The question does anyone have experience using solar chargers in a remote environment with the equipment listed above? What do I need and what is the best resource? Thanks in advance. Terry Shiels -

I did a little more on-line research. I think I may have found a solution, albeit untested by me for now. In case anyone has the same issue down the road here is what I learned… A company called CTSOLAR makes solar chargers for expedition work. Has anyone used their stuff? Here is what they recommend for my power needs…
“We would probably recommend two of the 24AH power centers in Pelican cases with two 32W panels per power center (total of 4 32W panels and two 24AH Pelicans).”

Extremely durable.
You might be able to get away with one system (one 24AH power center
and three 32W panels) but can’t guarantee it. Two systems would certainly
do well. -
