If possible, read the article about the EX-1 in the June 2008 issue of HDVideoPro magazine. It was a shootout between the EX-1, a RED, Sony F900R, and super 16 footage shot on Vision 3 film stock.

I’ll quote one paragraph from the article: “Many who attended the event said that the biggest surprise was that the Sony EX-1 looked better than the RED ONE in it’s windowed 2K mode. Young noticed the RED as being noisier, and Martinez thought the EX-1 showed a lot more detail.”

On top of that, the local Red owner (# 13) just rented one of our EX-1s for a job in L.A.

    HDVideoPro magazine
They don’t have an online edition and they haven’t offered me a free subscription. Don’t their advertisers want me to see their ads so I can spend lots of money? I guess that’s what happens when the $6500 camera beats the $65,000 camera.

I think it was originally a contraction of Frigidaire®.

    Steve,

Have you ever cut in EX-1 footage with your F900. Just curious how well the EX-1 does in comparison since you have both.

That would be on next week’s schedule so I’ll let you know. The EX-1s are out almost every week so it’s been tough to get that comparison done.

[George Strother] “I think it was originally a contraction of Frigidaire®.”

I think you’re right on that. Frigidaire was the leader in sales for a long time. Did you know that Zenith was the last TV made in America? And, wasn’t it CBS that convinced the FCC to go with NTSC instead of PAL?

Obviously, you’re not 25 years old.
