When the import (with the same files) is done from Macintosh HD works well or the Events on HD and import the files from the Xsan works well too.

I use the Add San Location from FCPX. If someone can help us to pass that bug and understand why it happens. Some Events works some other don’t.

    Thanks for any helps

    Hi, Guy.

Would you mind explaining your situation a little more?

Importing to your Hard Drive works OK, but importing to the XSan only works sometimes?

About my situation, we have FCP X 10.0.8
The files are already on the Xsan in ProRes 422 and we just link to the file in some folders. No copy.

When both are on the san with Add San Location we create an Events and import files without copying.

In the window of importation we’ve got the video and sound from the file. But after the importation in the Events window we see it in red and MISSING FILES on it and no sounds on audio clips.

But when we do an Events on the HD it works, or the files on HD and Events on the san , it works too.

I clean reinstall FCPX, same thing.

What kind of files are you trying to import? (Camera type, codec)

We work on ProRes 422, 4444 and a lot of XDCam422.

The both file do the same in window of importation is readable and after the importation the red screen Missing Files. No camera. And when the Event is on my HD it works well for all kind of file.

I looked at the permissions on Xsan for the events but it seems to be correct.

Thank you to take time to help me.

After you import, do you have an alias file in the original media folder for each media file?

Are you preferences set to use original/optimized media instead of proxy?

I had the same issue on my SAN but it was due to NTFS storage. It has since been fixed, but I’m not using XSan.

What version OS Xsan are you running?

Also check to see that you have write permission in that folder…

For now, we work on xSan permissions and it does not solve the problem.

But when I choose in import Copy Files in events it works, but we really need to not make duplicate file on the xSan. And when I choose only import no ALIAS is created in the folder original media.

It’s the problem but don’t know how to solve it.

    Thanks

Are the XDCam clips already .mov or are they MXF?

This happens with ProRes .mov files as well?

If so Helge is probably on to something, there’s some sort of permissions conflict somewhere.

Perhaps the XSan forum can help you out?

All files on our server is XDCam .mov not .mxf and ProRes .mov.

From both is the same result.

I’ll look at the site for the forum of xsan.
