Events in the video track stopped showing up in the preview window
Hi all,
I’m new here.. in fact, I’m new to Vegas Pro altogether. Right now I’m using the 30-day trial software and was just about sold on buying it (if I can get through this problem, I am sold!). I’m a long-time Windows Movie Maker junkie and was ready for something MORE… so I found Vegas Pro 9 and so far I love it….
Except for one thing!
I don’t know what I did, if I clicked on something or what, but my project was working wonderfully up until last night. I have a number of .avi clips and I’m setting them to music. I had them all laid out, the music in one track and the video clips on another. All of the sudden last night, the video would randomly stop appearing in the preview window. I can see the correct clip below in the project, but what appears in the preview window is black (the music track still plays fluently through when I play the project).
I tried a few things, and I randomly (I’m not sure what I did) got one clip back, along with the video effects. Now, in Windows Movie Maker, you can usually right click on the clip and make sure it’s sourcing back to the correct file. I’m having trouble figuring out how to do that here. When I click on the file and move it to the trimmer, I see the entire clip and it plays fine. When I try to move it back down to the project, same problem. And sometimes it’s a still *from* the clip that appears, but it’s not actually video. AND THEN sometimes that’s all that will show up for other clips in the project.. for some reason it’s sourcing back to something else, such as the still from the clip I’m currently working on.
Forgive me, I am not technical much at all, so my language is pretty uninformed. I hope how I’ve explained it makes sense. I’ve wasted hours trying to figure out what might be going on, and I’m a little frustrated. Is there an easy fix, something I’m missing? Any help would be so much appreciated!!

You have nothing to worry about…its a simple fix…I dont have vegas open in front of me now, but go to the trimmer window and
disable the preview button or toggle them until you see your preview again.Steve Rhoden

Thank you so much! I actually looked around a little bit more after posting and saw someone else had a similar problem and they fixed it by changing the preview quality. That seemed to do the trick, as well. 🙂 But I notice it does seem to keep occurring every once in awhile.
I tried the toggle thing as well. As soon as I did that, the preview quality got pretty grainy/fuzzy.. not sure why though.
