Let’s put it like this – what always annoyed me and what I always wanted to ask… Here are so many users with a lot of experience. Perhaps they fond an answer.

Most of my projects are surround projects. So I end up with a lot of audio tracks belonging to 1 video track. But so far I was unable to find an easy solution to select the video of a clip and all the audio tracks belonging to it with ONE click. I need a kind of column selection if I edit my projects. Groups don’t work. Is there no solution???

Not sure what you goinf to do once you’ve selected, but creating a loop region by just dragging the cursor, or by double clicking an event, selects a vertical “slice”.

I want to move the events. This means the video with the main audio and all other audio channels. Different to the main audio they do not belong to the event at least how Vegas sees this – what I understand. I have at the beginning:

    1 track video
2 track audio main front (from the video avi)
3 track audio rear (from the audio wav)

If I move 1 then 2 is moved too but not 3. So I have to click on 1 + Shift + 3 to move them all.

Because of this and resulting sync problems I split the audio tracks into the stereo channels and so into 4 audio tracks when the video is finished. But only then I can check the surround audio – if I do not want to switch around all the time. Is there no easy way to make Vegas understand that all sound tracks belong together in a vertical sense and when I move 1 not only 2 has to be moved but 3 too? Sure I can live with Shift but perhaps there is a better way.

Write yourself a script that selects the way YOU want things selected. That’s one reason why I wrote the Select Events tool in Excalibur. Now with a simple click, I can select EVERYTHING after the cursor (as an example) since that’s not an easy task in Vegas. I believe you’ll find using scripts to be very powerful.

No need to be afraid of the answer – it’s a really great option! There’s several event selection scripts out there – just grab one and start modifying as needed. For example, you could make a script that looks for the first selected video event and then select the corresponding audio event(s) in subsequent tracks until another video track is reached. If desired, it can also be set to select all events to the END of those tracks as well.
