Event Pan/Crop Problem
Posted by Dorene Zhou on September 26, 2010 at 5:10 amHi! For some reason, whenever I use event pan/crop, I get a black screen when normally I would see the video. It’s like the video is offline. However, the video is still visible and plays fine on the large preview screen. I thought it might be a codec problem, but nothing seems to work. Because of this, I can’t mask videos anymore and would really like to solve this problem ASAP 🙁 thanks!

September 26, 2010 at 7:41 amCould you send a screenshot showing your pan/crop setting at some point of your timeline where the problem occurs?
BTW, you can see my tutorial about pan/crop, see link below. Hope it will help 🙂

September 26, 2010 at 11:27 amWhat codec are the source files? If it’s DivX or Xvid this may be the cause of the problem.

September 26, 2010 at 5:09 pmThe video is Xvid and I already have the codec downloaded. I checked this on Gspot vs. 2.70. Just in case, I downloaded a divx codec and xvid codec, but nothing is working. Event pan/crop is still showing me a black screen
Actually, these videos were showing up fine until just the previous day, and I don’t know what I did. The name of one is, “[BakaWolf-m.3.3.w] Special A 16 (XviD) [3EC250EE]”. I have some other videos that are working just fine. Is it maybe something wrong with my sony vegas? i have sony vegas pro 9 64 bit. I also have newbluefx if that counts for anything.thanks 🙂

Vegas Pro does not support DivX or Xvid. The fact that it worked at one time doesn’t ensure that it will always work since it’s not supported. Your best course of action is to not edit DivX or Xvid with Vegas. Convert the files into another format like DV, MJPEG, or Laragith first.
i have sony vegas pro 9 64 bit.
Do you have the 64-bit version of the Xvid codec? Only 64-bit codecs will work with 64-bit Vegas Pro.

September 27, 2010 at 12:00 amYou’re welcome. It’s always important to remember when working with 64-bit Vegas that plug-ins and codecs must be 64-bit as well.
