  • Event loading takes forever – no joke

I opened up FCPx yesterday and the first thing that happened was a dialog popping down from the top and a progress bar announcing that it was loading an event and updating it.

24 hours later, this event is STILL loading and the only thing I can do, I’m supposing, is to force quit. Being that FCPX is dB dependent, I’m not sure I want to do that.

Has anyone else come across this and is there a solution to this particular woe?

    All the best,

    Lawrence

    What did you find?

    Jeremy,

I found that if there are any issues that are, if you can excuse the bad analogy, “Bermuda Triangle” issues – such as events loading without resolving anything and stopping all work – then the solution is to quit/ force quit FCPX, press and hold the “OPTION” key while clicking on the “GO” pull down; thus revealing the ‘hidden’ “LIBRARY” option in that pulldown.
On opening the Library, you select the “PREFERENCES” folder and delete the:

    com.apple.FinalCut.LSSharedFileList.plist
    com.apple.FinalCut.plist

Restarted FCPX and everything was working beautifully.

It’s a little like performing surgery without anesthetic but it’s quick, easy and has NOT disturbed any of the 35 projects that are in my Project Browser or the multitude of events and their associated keywords in the Event Browser.

and that’s that…. I’d hoped that the trashing of pref files had been solved in FCPX but in case of impossible problems, trash your prefs.

    Ecstatic with FCPX

I hade some similar problems (maybe its not the same).

Some time the Even library loaded perfectly and then it became extremely slow.
I did some error handling, and it work agin and the same painfully slow loading.
At last after (reinstalling, etc. etc.) I fond the problem.

RAID with Western Digital green (variable rpm 5400-7200) was the problem.

I just bought a WD drive you stated and am having a lot of hanging and corrupt media issues. What can you tell me about the problem you found and was there any solution. Wish I’d seen this prior to the purchase. Looks like I might have 6TB of useless storage…

    Thanks,

    Karl
