I copy the event “Barbecue” to a portable HD and bring it on the road with me to do some logging. I rate some clips ‘Favorite’ and put in a bunch of Keywords.

I come home and now I have these Keyword Collections and metadata that I want to transfer to the Event “Barbecue” as it exists on my desktop computer’s RAID array.

The only way I can see to do this is by deleting the old event “Barbecue” and then copying over the new one (with all the logging info I added to it).

    Really?

Just mount the drive with the new version on the original computer. And it will available in the original computer.

All HD’s that are mounted show all events and projects it contains in FCPX.

This way you an organize projects by clients by having multiple drives/RAIDS/partitions and mount only the pertinent drives/RAIDS/partitions on the computer you want to work on.

No I know I can access media on whatever drives are mounted on my system. I guess what I really want is an easy way to transfer the metadata (i.e. the logging info) that I generate while on the road that doesn’t require me editing off the portable HD I happened to use when logging.

I also want a way to back up that metadata. Do I have to backup my Final Cut Events folder? My backup solution now filling up with the card clones I shoot and archive daily.
