I’ve taken the plunge and right off shore I smack into a reef. Drat. When I enter list view in the Event Browser everything works as it should. I then try to re-arrange the columns but no go. I click on a column heading, hold the click and attempt to drag the column to a new position. Nothing happens. Now when I select another clip in the Event Browser the filmstrip does not change to the selected clip but remains the filmstrip of the selected clip prior to my attempt to re-arrange the column headings. I’ve trashed preferences. If I re-launch FCPX everything is fine until I attempt to re-arrange the browser columns and then I have the same issues. It seems like a next step would be to re-install FCPX but I can’t figure out how to do that yet.

    any help is appreciated.

Can’t reproduce that problem. You might try trashing your preferences. Use Preference Manager.

    All the best,

    thanks, Tom.

I love the engineer proximity syndrome. After I posted I tried to re-arrange the columns and VIOLA- it worked. Hadn’t for two days. Re-launched FCPX and everything works as it should. Sorry to waste bandwidth but I’m sure if I hadn’t posted I’d still be dealing with it.

It’s quite possible that some background task was going on while you were trying to do this, which prevent it from working as you expected.

    Mark,
Mine does that too, but sadly rebooting and restarting didn’t fix it. List view works fine until I try to rearrange columns then BAM! They won’t rearrange and now the clips don’t change in the viewer as I try to select different ones – just like your description. Any help from someone would really be appreciated.
