    [WILSON] “Yes we run BMD Extreme in all our suites and there is some support for the resolutions, but the 720P support is nonexistent until Apple do something.”

    Just because there is not a 720p50 set up does not mean that it will not work in FCP. I have been working with 720p50 for 2 years in FCP (I am in the US by the way).

    Sorry Wilson – FCP (like your HVX) is an incredibly powerful tool, and you do yourself disservice by expecting Apple / Panasonic to do all the work for you.
    Learn the app or hire someone that does and you will have it up in running in a couple of hours. I push all of my tools to their limits, and that often means that one cannot rely on a straight out of the box solution to solve a specific problem

    [Uli Plank] “24p is only possible with an US model.”

    Not necessarily! If you use the “frame rate hack” and set your frame rate # to 14, you’ll get 720/24p in an HVX200E or HVX202EN. Now, it’s not exactly 23.976 or 24.000 fps, but it’s close, it’s 24.033333. But it’s there if you want it.

    Great! Thanks for the interesting news. Will the hack also get me higher rates than 50p on the European model?

    After all, 60p -> 24p is a 2.5 slo-mo, while 50p -> 25p is only a factor of 2.

    TIA,

    No, 50 is the maximum. It still looks fantastic though; check out the surfing action in this clip from Australia:

    (save as… and remove the “X” from the end.)
