Has anyone had any luck using a high end ethernet storage server? I need to look at using one for an upcoming project, tying two FCP portable systems together, using one to digitize and the other to edit clips that are already on the server.

I know the best solution would be an XSAN, however, no one seems to be comfortable with a portable XSAN with an XRAID

    Thanks

Ya got that right… XRaid’s aren’t very portable.

Best to capture locally on one system, then move the media to the other. Gigabit Ethernet would be fast enough for this if it’s SD material… otherwise, Firewire for HD transfers. Kill the media on the capture station after you check out the copies on the editing station…. Lots more “portable” a solution IMHO.
