Activity Forums Apple Final Cut Pro Legacy eSATA options?

I am working a project using apple’s proRes codec. I need to buy a new external hard drive (1000 gig) for my Macbook pro. I want to use an eSATA drive. So far the most affordable option I could find was the caldigit svr duo. With taxes and shipping and expresse card its 700 dollars for a terabyte. Are there any cheaper, yet equally reliable and speedy alternatives? I need a reliable drive in order to sleep at night but 700 is a lot right now. I’ve thought of buying a hard drive and separate enclosure but I don’t know of any specific reliable combinations. Any advice?

    Thanks.

Thanks for the suggestions. Both so far appear to be viable solutions.

The Firmtek seems good but I’ve never set up a raid before. Anything I need to know before trying? And I wonder how you’re supposed to store the hard drives that aren’t being used. Also, what are the best hard drives to use. (Which hitachi model is in the caldigit?)

    I really appreciate the feedback.
