I’m going off to college soon and will be getting a fairly nice laptop. I plan to use some of the extra money I have to get an eSATA card for it along with a 2-5 bay eSATA enclosure. I would use the enclosure to backup my data and also store the video and other things for the different projects I am working on. I did some searching here and found a few suggestions, like the FirmTek cases, but just wanted to know if anyone had any other suggestions? I would prefer if I could add the drives myself so I can expand the storage later.

I use this external box from Addonics and now have 4 750GB drives for video storage.

Are you using them in any sort of RAID? Which interface did you get for it?

I purchased the eSATA connection with JBOD setup. I use it as back up. It is easily 2X faster that USB connection. They have RAID setups but I have a RAID0 array in my computer I use for capture and editing.
