October 23, 2008 at 1:43 pmWell, I have to say that I am extremely impressed with my results now I have a better driver (or something). I’m not exactly sure what I did, but a driver must have been updated. I am now transferring 2 GB of data in 45 seconds, and about 11 GB in 4 minutes – outstanding. I had downloaded the Mac OS X standard driver off of Rosewills website. The 10.5.1 driver did not work for me, even though it appeared to be more up to date since it was version 1.1.
Problem solved

Nope just checked out that driver and the date on it is 2006. Thats LONG before leopard was released, must be something else you did.
My problem isnt with transfer speeds with cards that use that driver, my problem is that then ever I am using a card that uses that driver it caused my FCP to crash or my system to kernal panic. Every thing works fine with out it.
I just cant find a card that does NOT use that driver.

November 4, 2008 at 5:33 amOK I have at long last found a eSATA express card that uses a completely different chipset and driver. I have ordered it and will post once I get it to let you know if it works.
Here is links on it.

https://www.amazon.com/e-SATA-ExpressCard-Adapter-supporting-2000/dp/B0011N33EAPlease note that while the amazon listing does not specify Mac, that other info in this chipset does say that it will work with 10.5 (possibly even with out drivers)
