    Hi There,

I’m having a sequence go bad on me it seems- I start to get The red screen with white text “Display unavailable- please close and reopen this window” message at various, but shifting parts of my short HD timeline (1:00) soon become unusable- playback stops and each clip is met with the above message.

Following this, the sequence is not open-able with an “Error: Out of memory” message. I’ve tried trashing and restoring with FCP rescue, and exporting an XML file for my sequence. Both worked at first, and then stopped working about 5 minutes after I had done it. Now trashing the prefs does nothing and I’d expect I’ll have to export, open another XML file to get working again.

    Any ideas?

    I’m on an XSAN, w/a G5 QUad x 2.5GHz 4.5 G RAM

    Thanks,

    Aaron

Any nests? One of our editors was having problems with that “Display Unavail…. Out of Memory” problem when he tried to put a clock wipe over a nest which contained a freeze frame…. The problem went away when the nest went away.

no nests at all, sad to say. Seems that was a problem for many folks with this error message.

    Thanks anyhow,

    Aaron

i’m in the same boat. have just trashed prefs, no change. what did you end up doing to get around this one? anyone else have any ideas? i’ve worked on this sequence all day (don’t it figure?) and was about to render when i was told, “operation not allowed”, then “out of memory”.

thank God for creating the “autosave vault”. only lost about an hour of work by using the previously saved version. up and running, but i wish i could figure out which file caused the problem…
