  • error when saving in AE “file is busy (delete) (-47)”

    Posted by Chris Powers on March 2, 2010 at 4:31 pm

    So, I just got a new computer for video work and have CS3 installed on it. I did one big AE project on this computer without any issues. However, I just started a new one and whenever I go to save the file, I get this message:

    After Effects error: opening file “filename” – file is busy (delete) (-47).

    (3::130)

    So….I’m not sure what that means, I don’t have more than one file open, and I’m not accessing the file I’m trying to save…I mean, other than having it open in AE like everyone does when saving something.

    here are my system specs:

    Model: HP Elite 7000
    Processor: Intel Core i7 CPU 860 @ 2.80 GHz 2.80 GHz
    RAM: 4 GB (2.99 usable)
    System Type: 32 bit
    And its running Windows 7 (may have something to do with it….)

    So, any help would be most appreciated. Thank you guys, and sorry for a boring trouble shooting question like this!

    here’s a site that describes the various ae error messages… yours is towards the bottom of this page:

    you might try file>save as… with a new file name.
