  • Error when rendering when setting Constant Bit Rate

Posted by Ron Whitaker on August 16, 2012 at 6:20 pm

I wanted to experiment in the Render As dialog.

    I’m using the MainConcept AVC/AAC (*.mp4) container.

In the Custom Settings dialog, I’m choosing the “Constant bit rate (bps)” option and setting it to 4,000,000 to start.

When I click the Render button, I receive the following error:

“An error occured while creating the media file .
The system is low on memory. You may be able to reduce memory usage by closing other applications.”

I don’t have anything else open except for a browser.

I have 8GB of RAM on an Acer Core i7 laptop.

It’s interesting that when I have the default selected:

    “Variable bit rate
    Maximum (bps): 24,000,000
    Minimum (bps): 12,000,000”

    It renders without any errors.

Any ideas as to why this is occurring?

    Ron,

Are you rendering an mp4 or an mpeg-2 transport stream. (check the system tab.)

    I’m not sure. I think mp4.

If I go into the System tab, within the Notes section it reads:

“Use this setting to create an MP4 (AVC/AAC) file for progressive internet downloads.”

    Next to Format, it reads:

“Audio: 192 Kbps, 48,000 Hz, 16 Bit, Stereo, AAC
Video: 23.976 fps, 640×360 Progressive, YUV, 12 Mbps
    Pixel Aspect Ratio: 1.000”

    Does that help?

    Ron,

I’m sorry I thought you were using the Sony AVC. I prefer the Sony AVC codec, probably because I’m pretty simple minded.

I don’t have much experience with the MC AVC, but it should not have memory problems. Does the “Enable progressive download” option have any effect on the outcome? I don’t think I’ll be able to help you on this one.

Search the forum for “low memory”. The question had been answered dozens of times.
