Error out of Memory just for specific project in FCP5 HELP!!!!

Any insight would be welcomed.
I am working on FCP HD and have started getting the Error our of Memory alert when I am doing just about anything in the project. I am working on a dual 2 GHz G5 tower with 512 MB DDR SDRAM. Now I know a lot of people would automatically say well you need more RAM. However, when i work on other projects as big as this my comp and final cut have no problems. So it seems this problem is specific to this project.
I have trashed my prefs multiple times, reset my PRAM, looked for any CMYK graphic files, made my media offline and reconnected – one clip had an error and I redigitized that clip, have copied everything into a new project and tried to start again…
The error message comes up randomly but incessently – when I open a sequence, when I open a new clip, when I try to play my timeline, when I add an effect to the timeline.
I am at a loss and don’t think that buying more RAM is necessarily the answer as my comp and FCP work fine with other drives and other projects. Any ideas for how to proceed from here?

Hi,
Mostly those errors are not indicators that you need more ram however with only 512 I would consider it strongly.
If not just to speed up your system.If you open utilities and activity monitor (called something like that…)
How much of your ram is free?How large is your project file?
Did you name your project something else after copying everything into a new one?Andreas
