    Hi guys,

I’ve just installed CS6 on my iMac and I’m getting an error message on startup. ‘Unknown exception’

Once you acknowledge this dialog you can continue and the program loads fine, but I worry that something’s not quite right under the hood. It’s seems to always be when it tries to load the ‘Resources’.

So far I’ve trashed the preferences and done a reinstall. Any other ideas?

Thanks – hope you guys can help
    Sam

I also have CS5 and 5.5 installed on this machine

Try updating to 11.0.1 here ->https://blogs.adobe.com/premiereprotraining/2011/06/updates-for-adobe-premiere-pro-after-effects-and-adobe-media-encoder-cs5-cs5-5.html

Yeh, I found that link thread before – always search the forums before posting ;0) – but neither trashing the prefs folder for After Effects 11, nor CMD+OPTION+SHIFT did me any good.

I know it’s odd but maybe I should trash the preferences for CS5 and 5.5 – it must have sourced them from somewhere on initial startup…

    I’ll try that.

Nope – no joy there either. Any other thoughts?

Nyet! Give the Adobe Forums a try – https://forums.adobe.com/community/aftereffects_general_discussion.
They’re actually the best place for app issues such as this.

    Good Luck!

Sorry it hasn’t worked out. Perhaps ‘google’ the error message. BTW, do you have any 3rd party plugins installed that may be the cause?

    Good Luck!

I don’t have any currently in the the CS6 folder as it’s a totally new install, but I do for CS5. Maybe I’ll ditch a few things from my old plugin folders and do a bit of old fashioned trail and error – might be worth a try.

    Thanks!

Sam, I am having the exact same problem. It stops when it sees my Core Melt plugins on boot up. When I remove them, it then happens on the Resources folder just like your screen grab shows . But the plugins work just fine in AE. So I have been ignoring it. I am curious about any solution you may find.
