  • Error message when Premiere 6.5 crashes

I recently had to reinstall everything on my computer from the operating system (Win 2K) on up. I am using Premiere 6.5 with a Pinnacle DC1000 card.
Lately, I’ve been getting the following error message, which is followed by Premiere completely crashing, blue screen and need to reboot – “The exception integer division by zero (0x0000094) occurred in the application at location 0x01e02f8ec [or other locations]” It was primarily doing this when I was using the Stage Tools plugin Moving Picture, but on one project, it would crash as I scroll past a certain point on the time line.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the plugin. That didn’t help. I also replaced my 512 megs of memory with 1 gig of new memory. That didn’t help.

Any thoughts or suggestions? The owner of Stage Tools wasn’t able to come up with an answer (though they are otherwise a great company!)

We have a Pinnacle DV500 card that we use with Premiere 6.5 and a few months ago Premiere started crashing and bluescreening the computer everytime we would try to run it. I noticed the last thing Premiere was trying to load before the crash was the pinnacle drivers.
So I disabled the 2 Pinnacle drivers in device manager and suddenly Premiere works fine. If I need to capture through the DV500 I can actually re-enable the drivers while Premiere is open and they work.
Haven’t found any other way around this problem. I suspect a microsoft patch could be the cause as we have had this system running fine for years.
