I was looking on forums before, and have tried what people have said on there with no luck. However my situation might be a little different…

I received an external drive containing all the Avid Media, project files, and bins. Everything I need to bring the other editor’s project back online. When I try to playback a specific sequence I get the error:

Segmentation Fault in thread “MainThread”, at address 0x0

I have tried moving the bin to a different drive, and opening from there, no luck. I have trashed the database files in the Avidmedia folder, no luck.

I can play back other sequences, but not the one I need. I tried duplicating it, and that also failed.

    Any pointers?

Thanks for the time, and any help!

    Alan

okay, odd. I just got the same error message. In my case it’s a project I’ve been working on for a while.
But I consolidated my MXF files that were in a couple folders into one folder titled “1”. Then I deleted the database files in the mxf folder so Avid would re-scan. Like I’ve done dozens of times before. And then I get the same error message as Alan, and a bunch of my files are offline while Avid seems to be endlessly scanning and trying to re-link (about 2 hours and I finally gave up).

    Any ideas??
(Sorry, Alan, didn’t mean to hijak your thread—seemed like a similar problem.
