I used FCP at my school to import some video off of a DVC camcorder because the version of Premiere that they had wouldn’t recognize that a camera was plugged in.

The video was saved as an MOV file and I copied them to my flash drive and then my home PC. While they would play on the Macs at school NOW I only get audio and my copy of Premiere (CS6) gives me the “Codec midding or unavailable” error message.

What codec to I need to get these videos viewable again?

I would suggest that you use MediaInfo – a free utility which allows you to identify the type of files which aren’t working:

    Thanks for the tip.

I actually just found a work around involving another free program I already had. I ran them through Any Video Converter and just changed the format from MOV to MP4.

BAM! Suddenly the picture is back.
