I have just loaded DVD Architect onto computer to make a DVD. All is well until I go into the burn window, go through the whole process, the time est to burn window pops up then all of the sudden the DVD is ejected from the burner and I get this message

    ‘SFMMCX’-(17)

    -‘HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GH22LS40 LL02’-(0)
    Module c:p4sonic3releasedvdarchitect4.5cddrvssfcdsfmmcx.cpp Line 1996

Can anyon help me understand what this means or tell me how to go about finding out what it means? I was able to burn a data dvd earlier in the week with no problems using another program. I did a test burn also and got the same meessage. I know the burner works or at least with the other program it did.

Most likely a driver issue of some kind. Be sure that you have:

    1. The latest update for your version of DVD Architect. (Also make sure it’s the update for the correct edition, Studio or Pro.) You can download updates from Sony’s website.
    2. The latest driver for the drive you’re using to burn and the operating system you’re using. One note, I’ve heard that upgrading from one OS to another can sometimes result in driver conflicts ’cause not all files get replaced properly. Unfortunately, service packs can screw things up sometimes, too.

    3. If applicable, the latest firmware for the drive you’re using to burn. This is software that is part of the drive itself and is not specific to the operating system.

Numbers 2 and 3 you should be able to download from the drive’s manufacturer’s website.

Alternatively, if you have more than one DVD burner, try the other one.

Thank you for the information. This is the first chance that I have had to work on the computer. All drivers, firmware, updates etc are in order. The burner works great with my other burn programs but just not DVD Architect.
I see where other people will use DVD Architect to make their project then burn using another program. Since my other programs (nero is one) will work I would like to try using the files from DVDA and use nero to burn so that I can try and finish this project. Then in the meantime I definetly want to figure out what is wrong with communication between my burner and DVDA. If anyone can tell me how to still use the projects that I have created with DVDA and pull them into another burn program that would be great. Thanks.
