I’ve just started to use Final cut and am simply trying to pull a clip into the canvas from the viewer. When I click and drag it over it gives me this message- Edit operation had no effect. check the target tracks. you may need to open the source clip into the viewer in order to see all of the target tracks.

The clip is in the viewer so I’m confussed about what to do? The only way I get get the clip onto the sequence is to pull it right from the viewer to the sequence?

    Help!!

    Thanks!!

Look at the timeline…on the left. See those things that say A1, A2, V1, V2…and then to the left of them, little tabs that say v1, a1, a2? Well…are they touching? If not, click on them until they do. You need to connect the footage from the viewer (the lower case v1, a1, a2) to the sequence (the upper case V1, A1, A2).
