  • Error loading a plug-in.

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction here.
Recently, upon opening very recent (and only very recent) projects in Vegas Pro 11, a window pops up stating that an error has occurred. It continues that ‘the plug-in(s) specified are not installed on this system’. When I click ‘details’ I get one line;-

    {FE9C7E25-2114-4FB0-B127-7555D8298263} – Media Generator

Since I don’t have any plug-ins installed (poor me!) I am at a loss what to do next. I have searched for the file, I have checked each of the plug-ins for something similar and I have reinstalled VP11 (latest build).

For a change I think I have cocked up rather than Sony, ha ha.

    Any help guys. Thanks.

That would be NewBlue Titler Pro. Install it on the new machine and that project will load without error. You used NewBlue Titler Pro in that project so it is now looking for it.

You will need the serial number Sony provided to you in your packaging to install Titler Pro.

    Hey Ed,

Is there a way to identify which plug-in the error message is pointing to on a system where it has never been installed? Does Sony keep a list online?

Thanks Edward. I was wondering if that was the culprit.

A couple of times I had uninstalled NB Titler Pro and then installed the updated version (1.1)as indicated in the úpdate’drop down. Couldn’t work out why it was not recognising the updated version and was still indicating that a newer version was available even though I had tried to install it a few times. It was only when I read the fine print that came with the update that I found the advice for Vegas Pro users to stick to the 1.0 version.

Anyway, all good now so thanks for your directions. Very much obliged.

The current version in Vegas is version 1.0 build 120402. If you do a Check For Updates, yes – it will show a newer version available but one of the entries in the new features is to NOT load it if you’re on Vegas. So stick with build 120402.

Jeff, what I did was take that GUID number and do a search in my registry. When I got a hit, I knew which plugin he needed. However, it has to be installed in order to get a hit! I don’t know of a list anywhere. I have, several times, found plugins installed on my machine that others were seeking using this method.

    Thanks Ed,

I aware of how you did that. I was just wondering if there was a way to find out when the plugin had not been installed on your computer yet.

The error message could have been made to include the plugin name. The information is all in the .veg file, but each character is separated by a space. (It looks like a RIFF container) What I’m not seeing in the .veg file is the GUID that you looked up. It would be nice to be able to cross reference GUID and plugin name.
