I am trying to follow this tutorial in after effects. I’m on the erase text part but.. It seems that you can only erase things in the layer panel correct? I can’t seem to get a text layer in the layer panel so it can be erased, nor when I precompose the text either. Other than creating a mask around it, is there a simpler way to just go in an erase it?

    Thanks

The tutorial that you linked to is a Photoshop tutorial.

As Todd said, you linked to a photoshop tutorial, but my guess is that you want to animate the source text property. Set a keyframe for each letter removal.
