I shoot a reality segment for the Weather Channel and I’m in the market for some new gear, and I’m wondering if anyone who has worked in a similar situation has any suggestions for camera and a tripod. I’ve been shooting with Sony XDCam, and there’s two things I don’t like about it:

1 – when I switch from manual iris to full auto mode then back to manual, it forgets where I had the iris set. I frequently find myself switching between two lighting situations and it would be really helpful if it had a memory on this. I’ve shot on Sony’s before that did (I think the V1U did).

2 – My wrist gets pretty sore after holding it for a while (not sure if there’s a way around this one)

Also, the tripod I’ve been using is simply too much of a hassle to set up on the fly. It’s got a beautiful Bogen head on it, but the sticks require too much time to adjust (I think they’re Manfrotto). Anyone have any suggestions for a tripod that’s made for rapid setup?

Thanks! As I won’t be near any major AV stores for a while, any feedback is appreciated
