    Not really in FCP

I’d use Photoshop (place command) into a new video sized document and make an alpha channel

You can also bring it into Motion

Okay but the text winds up all pixelated.

Use Place Command and size it.. don’t scale afterwards.

If the file is an AI file and contains live text (not converted to outlines) you may have font substitution occurring

How to convert EPS files to TIFFS with Alpha Channels
    1) Open EPS file in Photoshop
    2) Image–Mode–RGB Color
    3) Image–Adjustments–Auto Levels
    4) Select–Load Selection (then press OK)
    5) In Channels Tab add mask layer (of selection…(creates alpha))
    6) File–Save As–TIFF (Mac Version)
