  • Epilepsy warning plug-in for Final Cut Studio?

Posted by Michael Lansdell on December 3, 2007 at 12:58 pm

Does any one know of a good (or indeed any) plug-in for Final Cut Studio that will inform you if something in the image will trigger an epilepsy fit? I’d rather buy a plugin than have any more programmes returned! Shots of water in particular seem to cause trouble when things are getting tech-checked. Any ideas would be much appreciated, thank you!

Simple, send your programme off to a company who can do a Harding test.
Then send the tape & certificate to the broadcaster.

I want a plug-in that will look look to see if any flashing patterns that have been filmed could possibly cause the programme to fail a PSE test, as it costs about

All the programmes receive a Harding test by the broadcaster, so there’s no real advantage of sending them off to someone else to do first. I just hoped that there was a plug-in for Final Cut that could read flashing patterns and warn of anything that might be a problem. Work won’t quite stretch to the

Well, having it fail the test from a 3rd party would save you from getting it rejected from the BBC, wouldn’t it? Might save your rep a little at BBC, as they wouldn’t see your program(me?) getting tagged all the time.

Yep, makes perfect sense. Just like we have all our HDCAM masters for one network done at a third party location to have an extra set of eyes and ears on the Masters before they are shipped off. They’ve caught two mistakes in almost four years, but at least they were caught before the tapes got to the network.

if the network is failing you, makes sense to go to a third party company and like Peter says, you send the Certificate along with the masters.

    Cool, ok. Thank you guys!
I don’t think my boss is going to want to do that, but I’ll pass on the info. I’ve only just taken on the online post here but having looked at all the problems now I’ve been given the test result print outs it looks like it was luminance that was failing the tests, all sorted now.

    Many thanks!

    Hi all,
We have just launched a website where you can test your video for broadcast compliance (OfCom, ITU recommendations).

    https://www.HardingTestOnline.com

This website is based on Harding FPA system.

Just upload your files and wait for the results – 100% online (24h/7days ).

    Enjoy!
