Activity Forums Avid Media Composer eof error

    hi im hoping someone can help me. i recently injested 8 hours of footage and began edititg it on media composer 2.7. after 8 hours of editing my computer froze and i had to force a restart.

    when i reopened the project the sequence came up with an End of file error when i tried to play. it wont play anywhere on the timeline as the error keeps popping up and the screen is black. i can hear audio though when i scrub.

    someone please help i have a tight deadline and am worried ive lodst everything

    Correct me if i am wrong, but isn’t that the problem a corrupt clip gives you. I think if you delete the corrupt clip out of the timeline it should be fine.

    Mark ‘In’ at the start of the sequence and Mark ‘Out’ half-way through then press ‘Play in to out’. If it plays then the corrupt clip is in the second half. If it doesn’t play then the corrupt clip is in the fist half. Keep reducing the mark in and out to narrow down the clip then cut it out. Just delete it and re-dig.

    That is of course if this is the problem.

    Maybe also try restoring an earlier version of the sequence/bin from Avid Attic.

    thanks alot for your reply. the problem was all media showed end of file error. nothing would play. i think my external drive crashed as some media had zero size. ive installed media comp 2.8 and reinjested my media (very tedious) on another drive and im good so far. dont know why it all happened. thanks for your help.
