I’m a fairly new user of Premiere Pro 2 (using it only occasionally off and on for the last few years) but my biggest problem with it is the ‘indexing’ process occurring after I capture 1080i HD from video my Sony HDR-HC3. Right after finishing the capture, Premiere will go on for hours creating these 1.8MB cache or index files and a progress bar in the lower right corner with appear, showing start through finish (over and over and over). My capture finished at 10:30 last night but I let the indexing go on overnight and it apparently hadn’t finished even after creating nearly 300 of these wonderful little cache (index) files. Using the newly captured file is impossible, apparently, until the indexing has finished. All I see in the monitor window for the clip is that whacked multi-language graphic saying ‘Media Pending’. Getting over this hurdle is now my problem. Adobe doesn’t seem to offer much help here.

I know this is not an unheard-of issue, but are there any real answers out there?
