Ending with a freeze frame

Export the last frame as a picture using the Quicktime Conversion export function. Import the picture back into FCP and replace the video frame with it. You can then make the picture as long, time-wise, as you want.

At least that’s one way to do it.

Place your playhead on the last frame.

Modify>Make Freeze Frame

Edit that freeze into your timeline.
