I have a client that wants my finished version in .wmv format. I don’t see that option on my export list. Does anyone know how I can do it?
    Thanks!

If you are on a Windows PC consider using the free version of Expression Encoder 4. You would need to export an intermediate file and then use EE4 to transcode to VC-1/WMV.

There are WMV Codecs for Adobe CS Premier all over the web. To be honest, I would export it in h.264 mp4, and tell your client that this is versatile for Mac and PC, and has a nicer resolution then .Wmv. Wmv files are kinda outdated and most people that want them, dont know that they can use other codecs.

[Timothy Klien] “Wmv files are kinda outdated and most people that want them, dont know that they can use other codecs.”

Or they have other requirements. For example, 42% of computers run Vista or XP, which don’t have native H.264 support.

    Alan,

If you’re on a Mac you could use Flip4Mac. It’s been a lifesaver on the occasions where I need to deal with WMV files.

Thanks for the info, Mark! I used my PC to do the initial conversion, but I think I’ll use Flip4Mac in the future. I’ve heard several colleagues tell me about it.
I see your a fellow Central Illinois videographer. Very cool.
We’ll have to keep in touch, maybe do lunch sometime and talk shop!

I work on a Mac and occasionally need to encode from PP6 to .wmv. The solution is not to try to convince them to try a better format. It’s a large Corporation in many stated running computes as old as Windows2000. My process is to create an h.264 QuickTime and then run that through Compressor. It works and gives me a lot of flexibility in settings but the Compressor conversion is very slow.
