I am looking to serve my video files with multiple bit rates for users with different bandwidth levels. I know that I will need two different MP4 files each with different bit rates. My question is how do I get these two different files. Of course i can render two individually, but that takes twice the time. Is there a way to render it once and have two (or more) files exported when the render is complete? Thanks for the help.

If you have the Pro version of Vegas, create multiple templates and use the Batch render script.

Will the batch render just render them in a line or all versions at same time. I’m trying to find a solution that will not increase my start to finish render time to greatly. We have a specific production timeline to keep in line with.

Will the batch render just render them in a line or all versions at same time.

It renders #1, then #2, etc.
The names it gives them can be rather obtuse (strange) but renaming files is very easy.

I’m trying to find a solution that will not increase my start to finish render time to greatly.

If one render takes 1 hr. then 2 renders will take 2 hr., etc. (generic statement – lower bitrates will render quicker) and there’s no way around this.

We have a specific production timeline to keep in line with.

A more powerful computer will speed up render times.
For example, when I went from a P4 3.4 GHz machine to a quad core, a 3 hr. render dropped to 27 min.

Providing you have the ram and CPU powers…

Just open the same project in multiple windows of Vegas.

However, as the previous post states… 2 renders even 4 just increases total render time proportionately… It does help so you don’t have to baby sit the computer.

I do find that no one single render consumes 100% CPU, so it will increase productivity a bit….

    Good luck
