Encoding in Encore
Just trying to find out what method of encoding has given greatest clarity and picture quality for most of you out there. Is it better to create an image and burn using another program such as Nero or let Encore create the disk? I created a dvd approx 1:56m of a lecture and while it looks crystal clear on playback after burning to dvd it’s a little blurry or soft in places. thanx for any help.

If you burned a DVD-5 (Single-layer, 4.7 GB), then if there is much motion at all in any part of your video, you will see softening and artifacts. 1:56 is a lot to put on a DVD-5, and the low bit rate that is needed to make that much video fit on the disc will not stand up to motion or lots of detail.

hey thanx jeff…i just upgraded to Encore 2.0 and encoded at a higher bitrate and used a DL disk…the resulting file was a littler over 5gb..but it looks great and played on every dvd player i could in best buy…lol
