Encoding h.264 mov or mp4 beyond 4k and 8k
We have some clients who are showing their video on huge screens and are requesting encodes at massive resolutions. The largest so far being 13600×768 and 3840×3240.
We are rendering from After Effects. Either as ProRes, Uncompressed or QT Animation. I’m currently trialling software that can make these huge h.264s but they often crash or fail to start at all. The closest i’ve got is with IFFMPEG (GUI for FFMPEG on mac) but although the encodes play in VLC they are pure white or black when opened in QT or MPEG Streamclip which wont work for the client.
We have a budget for some software that can do this and we arent able to use FFMPEG on the command line as the team who will be making the encodes aren’t used to encoding.
Has anyone used any software that can handle this? I’ve contacted Sorenson and Telestream support but havent had anything back. I’ve also tried Media Encoder, Carbon Coder and OGG video.
Hope someone can help.
Thanks,
Jonny
