Encoding for Internet Streaming
I currently use wmv encoding in Silverlight as my online delivery standard. I am looking at moving to using h.264/mp4 as the next standard. If it makes any difference, I only use streaming servers, not progressive downloads. I am also using files from a Sony EX1 that have been converted to mxf files.
I have seen many posts on recommending using Cineform, QT animation settings, and going to third party and so on. First question, is Vegas as good as any other option out there in creating h.264 files? Second, with a workflow that works, what is the minimum encoding setting (ie: 1mb 1.5mb 2mb) for streaming quality HD footage? I have tried many settings and am still struggling to get a decent result without encoding at 3mb which many of my test cases have not been able to view.
