    Hi All,

    Just a quick question…

I’m diving head first into Blu-Ray authoring with AVCHD footage taken from my Panasonic HDC-HS9. I’m shooting in PAL and my camera is set to film at 1920x1080p (1080/25p).

In order to get Premiere CS4 to work a bit better with this footage, I was told I should convert the AVCHD to MPEG-2 for Blu-Ray to ease the problems with playback that Premiere seems to have.

I’m using Media Encoder and I can’t find a preset for my footage. I made the mistake of using the “HDTV 1080i 25 High Quality” and having it render all night, the end result is pretty horrible. Interlacing artifacts and halos around objects everywhere.

I see the “HDTV 1080p 23.976 High Quality” and
“HDTV 1080p 24 High Quality” settings, but am I right in saying that these are NTSC settings?
Also, if I switch either of these presets to PAL, the fps switch to 25 and the field order is on Lower. Should I try this?

Many many thanks, I know this is a bit long, but an answers would be great!

    Clint

You cannot make a BR in progressive PAL, interlaced is the only option. Field order should be upper.
