I have no idea what this is called, and has made searching difficult. This has to be a simple switch somewhere, I just don’t know where it is.

Okay, working in whatever version of AE from the past 10 years (currently in CS4 myself), if you click on a variable (let’s say “Scale”), and slide the mouse left and right, you will see the layer get smaller and bigger in real time, via the Composition Window.

Except mine doesn’t do that anymore, and I don’t know why. I have to wait to release the mouse before I see what the effect is. This happens with mask adjustments, etc. It’s getting annoying, after so many years of working with the real time function.

I flipped through preferences, but I can’t figure out what setting enables this.

    Any help??

    Thanks.

Sounds like you accidentally toggled Live Update [link] off.
