I’m putting together a documentary in which I use some footage that was recorded by a teenager to whom we gave a little Sony camcorder. I want to make it clear that this footage was recorded by the teenager, not us, so I would like to superimpose on it something that looks like what you see through the viewfindwer of a camcorder – or at least some sort of frame. (The documentary is filmed in anamorphic 16:9 whereas the camcorder footage is in 4:3 SD, so we have some extra space for pillars on the side).

Can anyone give me a hint how to do this? Does anyone know of a pre-made solution? Or should I try and draw soemthing, or what? Mahalo!

Take a digital photo of a viewfinder you like (or modify it in Photoshop) and effect the image over it.

You also have a filter built-in that does this under the video category…

Or take a look at the excellent POV filter back from Profound Effects (may be AE only)
