    Hello,

Is there a way to create an empty (transparent) video track above the actual clip that works like a blurring glass, so anything I throw below that blur track looks blurred.

I need to blur the beginning of my clips in some ways and it would be way faster to create a standalone track that does the blurring job for each clip. This way I wouldn’t have to do the blurs over and over on all my clips, I could just change the clip tracks below the blur track and it’s done.

I tried to create a video track with Media Gen / Color Gradient – Transparent and then added Blur to it but that does not blur the clip track below.

Is there a way to do that?

One way it can be done is at the track effects level. Insert a track above the media you wish to effect. Add a gaussian blur filter to the track making sure the effect is to the right of the composite rectangle. Use the child parent relationship to select which tracks will be effected. Now for the painful bit. Enabling or disabling the effect is done by keyframe animation in the plugin.

Thank you! It works, however I need my clip to transition back to the normal video from the blur after my logo ends (6 sec) at the beginning of the clip, and by doing changes to track effect level I can’t just completely stop the blur plugin after the 6 sec, or can I do that somehow?

You know a solution for that issue (to stop blur plugin after a few sec while used it in the track effects level)?

You need to automate the blur amount and set it to zero when you don’t need it.

    Hello!

So I tried hard to Automate the effect (to eliminate it completely after a few seconds) and all went fine except one thing: the simple Fade on any tracks below does not work anymore. Fades have some strange saturated, color switching fading animation.

I used the Background Generator effect instead of simple Blur I mentioned before because it better fits to my idea.

I don’t know what the Background Generator is (it’s not part of Vegas Pro) but perhaps it can’t be totally turned off. Just from the name it sounds like it’s mean to use used as a a “background” and not on “top” of your video.
