HI,

Not sure who you asked at Panasonic, but the 640 would only play back the DV tapes. It wasn’t until the AJ-D455 that a DVCPRO machine would also record on the tape. So that machine cameinto the product linee around 2001, and today the AJ-SD255 and the SD755 also record on the DV format as well.
