    Hallo Everybody,

I would really appreciate some advice on two issues, since I face a tight deadline:

1.) I just hooked up my new BlackMagic Mini monitor over Thunderbolt, and after that it went all weird. When I imported my XML, I get right away the warning: “Error occured while Decoding Audio Track using QTDecoder”, and after that all thumbnails go black and I just see black in the viewr of the current clip.

2.) So, I made a new project and then it got worse: When I import, the XML, Davinci tells me it does not find the files, and when I want to go to the folder where the Media is stored, Davinci sees the folder as empty, even though all the clips are inside.

    Please, help!

    Thanx a lot.

    Greetings,

Material was shot on C300, ingested into FCP7 as ProRes HQ, then output an XML and imported into DaVinci.
I know, made a whole new Database and simplified the sound to 2 tracks.
    Seems to be ok now.
Should I grade this footage with or without a LUT?
Never really got into LUTs, because they gave me usually a too contrasted image.
The footage was shot in C Log.will it be ok to grade directly?

    Thanx.

    hi sascha,

of course! in my opinion LUTs are good for preview versions, eg dailies to edit with.
i never use a lut in grading. after all it is kina like a pregrade, you can use it if you like
the outcome, or don’t use it.

if you are planning to use a lut it is usually a good idea to have a “prenode” in which
you can alter the image contrastwise, so the lut doesn’t “throw away” some of your
    recorded detail.

    Thanx Andy,

You just confirmed what my stomach told me already.
Do you by chance know a good LUT to download for the C Log footage of the C300?
    I found several, contradicting links.

    Thanx.
