Ok my massive edit that I have been working on since October has suddenly crapped out!!

I saved copies of the project file on three hard drives plus a memory stick and none of them will open.

When I double click the project FCP loads all the footage and right before it finishes I get this message:

“Could not read from a render file. Try deleting the render files for this sequence with the render mananger”

What does this mean? How do I do it? I have touched nothing thus far.

I can’t bare to lose this work, I have hundreds of hours of editing tied up in this project. Starting over is just not an option for me.

    Thanks in advance,
    Richard

It’s ok it suddenly started working, even though it keeps asking for those missing render files. I just click ok.

But before that it would not open the project fully.

I don’t know what I did???? But some how it got fixed when I opened the project with FCP already open.

    Thanks

Still, time to trash those render files. One or more are bad.

Tools > Render Manager. I would delete your latest render files from yesterday or today. Whatever was the last thing you did before you go the errors. You obviously have a corrupted render file.

You can also go to your hard drive, open up the Render Files folder and simply trash all the files from yesterday / today.
