Emergency!! Alpha channel travel matte question– Deadline looming
If anyone has ever used separate mask layers with a graphic as a travel matte in FCP 6 and gotten it to work can they give me a call at 310.470.0905. I’ll be forever in your debt.
I was given a 15 frame wipe graphic with an associated file that is the black and whit matte.
I cannot get the graphic to work. I’ve RTFM looked online etc.
The idea is start in black, the graphic wipes on to reveal the video. I can’t get the video to show through the white portion of the matte. I’ve gone through every permutation. I’ve put the video on v3, the matte on v2 and the graphic on v1 setting the v3 composite mode to travel matte alpha, as well as v2 to travel matte alpha.

Got it working. It isn’t in the manual and jumped a few hoops.

if you have After Effects, just it in a comp with the alpha channel interpreted correctly and render it as an ANIMATION+ALPHA.
that should do it.
