Whenever I place a motion segment into an SD FCP timeline, FCP will lock up pretty soon after I start to play that part of the timeline. Spinning beach ball forever. Running 10.5.2 with all software fully updated.

I’ve tried repairing permissions, but don’t know what else to do.

Help! This is really slowing down the workflow.

    Thanks,

    Welcome to the party.

Try rendering out of Motion first and then place the movie above your motion project in the timeline. Then select the Motion project and hit control-b to disable it. Since it is disabled in your timeline, it won’t show up in FCP, but you will be able to make subsequent changes if necessary.

Make sure to delete that motion project out of your timeline before laying to tape, though, as FCP will try and render it before you do an ETT.
