Embed viewing signals
Hi
I have been asked to try and find some information out about Final Cut Pro.
Does anyone know if there is anyway where you can include data within any footage that can alert me that the video has been viewed?
I believe various broadcasters do this where they embed something into the footage, so even if it is recorded onto a seperate device, the data retriever is still there, I just don’t have a clue where to begin to make this happen.
Any help would be appreciated.

No there is no way to for you to know Hornsby times someone plays a video after they have downloaded it on to there computer, iPad, iPhone etc.
The only way to do what you want would be to have the video stream on a website and then track the hits on the website.

I have found some other software, but would be good if I could keep it all in one program.

The software you mention wont helps you to know if anybody have played your videos.
It would help you to identify copies of your video.

AC Neilsen (the tv ratings people) have a system that reads a code you embed in your program and thus tracks when and where it is broadcast. Sales people use this for tracking commercial placements. I don’t know anything else about it but I assume it is kind of expensive to get the monitoring service.
Also, that earlier post is a great candidate to add to the “$%#^ you, auto-complete!” web site. “Hornsby” !?!?!?!?! 🙂 LOL

Basically what we are looking for is to monitor product placements. But I am not really a editor, so I am unsure how the software like final cut pro works.
I wasn’t sure if there may be something built in, I have checked out Nielsen and E Media Monitoring.
I will have to drop them both an email to see what they can offer us.
