emailing clips
Is there any possibility to send via email (to an Apple computer) clips directly from the timeline? I mean, how can I minimize the size of a clip, so that it can be posted? I tried rendering to mov, but the files become too big.

You might use the Sony AVC plugin to render to MP4, and then select a bitrate (for both audio & video) low enough so that the file fits in an email. You may also shrink the output resolution, as anyway the quality of pictures will be very poor (but this will not change the file size, only determined by the bitrate and the clip duration).

Most email system will max out at 10MB and a 10MB clip is too small to get any kind of good quality. You really don’t want to email clips. You want to use a file upload service like YouSendIt and email a link to the clip or upload to Vimeo and make the clip private and add a password. Never compromise the quality of your video to fit the space of a text based email system.

I know Verizon has 20MB, but emails are just too small. I HAVE used WMV when content was more important than quality to preview….I use Mediafire and love it. Dropbox is also an option. Good luck!

I tried Dropbox, and have to tell, that I just love it! 2 GB free space, very easy to use – never try anymore to send clips via email! I could imagine, that this (Dropbox – system) is the way, we will use in future all our bigspaced programs… best regards, Jennifer Lestelä.
