When recently using Squeeze I found that DVDSP does not like program streams. In Squeeze Mpeg2 there is the option for either program or elementary. What are the differences?

What do you mean it doesn’t like Program Streams? As an input or output format? I wouldn’t use Squeeze to encode for MPEG-2, as there are much better MPEG-2 encoders on both the mac and PC. But the differences in program and elementary streams is that elementary streams are the video and audio streams seperated for use in authoring apps, while a program stream has the audio and video streams multiplexed into a single file for better distribution.

Hi Charles, sorry so long to get back to you. My problem was (I captured footage on Avid DS as uncompressed SD, exported a QT file, and then took that into Squeeze) was that when I brought the compressed program stream file into DVDSP in said it was an unsoported format. Where the elementary file was fine. So I was curious as to the difference.
